Is it definitely a back-venter? Ie, directly from the back of the unit into the wall?

Thanks for your question. According to the instructions it is designed to for rear ducting or installed as a re-circulation unit depending on your needs. For rear ducting, you will need RHURCADUCTKIT as well, but check with your installer for other specific needs. ^CO
