Big upgrade!
I upgraded from the A7 III to the A7 V and the difference was immediately noticeable. The autofocus and AI-based Subject Recognition are a huge step forward, and the new 4-axis multi-angle LCD is far more flexible than a standard flip screen. It’s genuinely reignited my creativity, especially with subjects I used to struggle with like small birds. Shooting at up to 30fps makes capturing those moments feel almost effortless.

A major upgrade
A brilliant camera for the price. Best features are the fast read out sensor speed which can produce superior sports and wildlife shots. Better AI subject recognition and focus tracking than A7IV. Pre-capture promises a similar experience to the A1ii but I am waiting for Lightroom to update their codecs so we can use the A7V in RAW.

I'm very happy with the product, I still need to fully explore all the features. I'm not a Pro but if we could get Open Gate ability, so I don't have to buy another camera.
I like this camera so much that I recommened this to my friend and he us buying it too.

Great Camera
The Sony A7V is my first Full Frame Camera. Since its arrival I’ve been full time learning its features and menu. This is an extraordinary camera with powerful features, and I will be spending my time utilising them.
Its a great camera to hold and use. The back screen and EVF are easy to use and the info displayed on both are easily visible. Although the menu format is new to me, it has been easy to scroll within and select what I have needed. The customisable buttons are a great feature and have already saved settings to a custom mode for astro. Since I like to shoot in remote locations, the ability to power the camera through one of two USB-C ports is a feature that I will be using frequently.
I thought the gift hot shoe cover was the one supplied in the box so was startled to receive an Alpha branded cover in the mail a week later - adds a nice touch to an already professional looking camera.
This camera has turned out to far better that what I had initially expected. I am very happy with my purchase. Thanks Sony

Almost perfect
I only shoot stills, with a mix of travel, landscape, portrait and sport. Here’s what I’ve observed:
Massive improvements:
-Autofocus; subject recognition works flawlessly and the new focus modes make shooting in the field a breeze (I use 3 custom buttons for specific focus presets)
-Dynamic range; just wow! Amazed by how much detail is captured straight out of the camera. When processed in LR, the images look like they were captured in HDR
-ISO; big improvement in using higher ISO before noise creeps in. Previously, I’d have to de-noise when ISO>4000, and I’d set max ISO to 10000. With A7v, I don’t need to de-noise up to 8000. I’ve captured images at ISO32000 and they’re still very usable (when de-noised)
Improvements:
-Focus point on playback; ability to see the focus point on a captured image gives you peace of mind to ensure you’ve focussed on what you wanted to
-Full-time DMF; great to be able to manually focus in any focus mode, rather than having to select DMF mode
-Menu system; better layout and in-built tooltips (help file) make setup and customisation a breeze
-Articulating screen
-Self-timer beeps; nice to have an audible beep that counts down when using self-timer
-Ergonomics; minor improvements to the body and button/dial placements make the camera more comfortable and intuitive to use
-Custom buttons; ability to create more customisations
Disappointments:
-Battery life; battery died after 182 images. After some Googling, I changed various camera settings (display quality, screen timeout) and was able to get 321 images from the next battery. I have read that new batteries require a few discharge cycles to reach their ‘full’ capacity. Watch this space.
-GPS/location; the ability to maintain a bluetooth connection (with the new Sony Creator’s App) is noticeably less ‘stable’ (than A7iii with the Imaging Edge Mobile app). I’m constantly having to open the app on my phone to ensure GPS/location is captured when shooting
-Lightroom support; A7v camera profile doesn’t yet exist, this the new RAW (HQ compressed) image format isn’t supported yet. Obviously not Sony’s fault.
So far, I’m stoked with the performance of the A7v. Definitely worth the upgrade just for the autofocus and dynamic range improvements alone.
