Wow - Fabulous Printer!
We've been buying Epson printers for well over twenty years and are pretty blown away by this new printer's features - how things have changed from the 1990s! We chose the Epson ET-8500 printer for its ability to print on cardstock up to 1.3mm thick and also for the amazing value this printer provides with the Ecotank feature - i.e. 1000s of pages printed for minimum outlay. Really looking forward to getting creative with my new printer!
The Epson Smart Panel App is also a wonderful bonus that I'm still navigating and hope to make the most of all that this app offers.

This printer is compact and sleek. a few challenges with set up but figured it out. The trays seem flimsy so it will be interesting to see how long they last. The rear paper feed guide is a bit of a fiddle to open and close and when open detracts from the sleek design. I use the printer for art/textile work and so far its printing well on cotton, Tissuetex, silk organza, rice paper, tracing paper all of which I attach to carrier sheets. The prints are a bit streaky on prepared inkjet transparency film, I will have to work on that. Pretty happy so far.

Loving this printer
My previous printer had been cheap to purchase, but the ink costs were exorbitant. My new Epson ET8500 printer had an expensive initial cost outlay, but the benefits of not having to buy expensive ink all the time will balance out the purchase price. I’m loving the print quality on copy paper and the photos I have been printing are more than satisfactory. Even with all the experimenting I’ve been doing the ink level has hardly dropped. The printer was easy to set up and connect to Wi-Fi and works well with my Apple devices. Awesome!

Terrible
The only thing worse about this printer is the customer service. The printer is constantly glitching. The paper won’t load, it won’t connect to the internet etc. for a very expensive home printer it is absolute junk. I returned the product for servicing and they returned it a week later claiming to have identified no faults. It still doesn’t work…Epson then called to ask about my experience. I explained the issues that I was having.. they said “we are sad to hear that. But actually no they couldn’t help. “

I had to review this to get the extra 12 mth warranty
Like the others I had to review the printer to get the additional 12 month warranty.
I haven’t yet used the printer.
The setup was straight forward even though have no wifi.
That is all I can really comment on.
Forcing a customer to write a review at the start of ownership to get the extra warranty is a dumb idea.

Almost a good printer
Let's get the first things out of the way, it's cheap to run and it does a pretty darn good job of printing photographs!
Now the rest......
It made of flimsy plastic, I suspect the manual sheet food at the back and the whole front paper-tray / loading mechanism are made from brittleanium and will be lucky to last six months let alone two years.
I couldn't find out how many sheets of paper it's supposed to hold but the answer is 'not many', don't keep your paper supply too far away or you're going to get fit getting more paper every ten minutes.
Remember how I said it prints great photos...Pity about the software that comes with it though.
I like to bulk buy my photographic paper in A4 size (hey, if you've bought a photo printer you're probably going to print quite a few) and print the photos in the middle of the sheet of paper.
This allows me to print 4*6 or 5*7 or 8*10 photos on the same size paper and trim as required.
There doesn't appear to be any option to select "Print my photo in the middle of the paper", all photos seem to print right at the edge, and to add insult to injury, the software doesn't seem to give you an option as to what size you'd like the photo printed at.
I should be able to grab any file from my computer and ask the software to print it in my desired physical size (and crop as necessary) anywhere on the paper, aligned top, bottom, middle, wherever I want.
In short, great print quality but let down by build quality and poor software.

Epson Eco Tank ET-8500 All in One Ink Tank Printer
I was looking for a printer that would print high quality photos as the printer I was using did produce top quality photos but just before Christmas 2023 it decided to pack up and die! My computer technician palmed me off with a new printer that would give me the same quality. Suffice it to say it did not. I scoured the web to find a printer that would and this Epson Eco Tank ET8500 delivered my requirements perfectly. Very happy with this purchase, although very much on the expensive side.
