Not Complicated and Easy to Read
As a 70+ person, the learning curve for this watch was easy. I appreciate the heart information it gives me, and I can view time, temp, and weather quickly. Receiving text messages while away from my phone keeps me connected. The step component has made my more aware and now I meet the goal 90% of the time.
Only downside for me, is that no matter what I do, the watch always says my sleep quality is poor, I think because I don't get much deep sleep. I checked it out and found that people over 65 don't necessarily get a lot of deep sleep. The watch does a great job of breaking down sleep analysis. I'm not a runner so nothing to review there.

love it , love it , love it
i love data, and this gives me everything. battery life is long! but i get still get freaked out when the battery level hits 50%, i have to keep reminding myself that i still have days of life left, (my previous watch was from a company named of a certain type of fruit). How is this an entry level watch? I still have functions i havens discovered yet.
and all the reviews stated that the gps is not the best..... I'm running ! not sending military precision ordinances.
Garmin has better watches... what do they do that the 165 can't? just asking
this is a review from a reluctant garmin buyer, thought the fruit named company watch is all i needed.

Great Running Watch!
Have had it for almost 2 months and even took it to visit family in El Salvador so it went on SEVERAL long hikes and excursions with me in rough jungle terrain- held up EXTREMELY well. Only charged it once on the entire 2 week trip and was able to get data for stress levels and sleep as well as recommendations for training on high stress/low stress days etc. Currently using the Garmin app Half marathon training plan to get ready for my first half marathon and can already see improvements in my runs. The watch automatically gives you the option to do the suggested exercise for the day or choose your own. So excited to use on race day!

Decent watch so far-troublesome software.
The watch is easy enough to read and has plenty of options but the set up of the watch has been a problem. I expect to be able to hit the activity button, easily pick run and hit start like my prior garmin watches. This will work one day, and then the next the "run" option will not be there but some workouts and other options. It changes from day to day and I have not asked for periodic workouts. When you about to start a race or a run you don't want to start looking for the right option. I am trying t remove all the other option even though I would like to try them sometime because I can't have the random menus changing when you want to start a run.

Great watch, great feel!
It was finally time for me to upgrade to a watch with better technology, tracking, functions, etc.
I had forever worn a tracker that starts with fit and ends with bit. I always liked that it was small and I didn’t really feel it on my wrist.
So when I started looking into the Forerunner 165 I just thought “it looks huge! I’m going to hate it!”
I could NOT have been more wrong!
Is it bigger- of course.
But it is SO light and SO comfortable.
I notice it less than my old fitness tracker. The screen size is just right for the information it needs to display.
Could not be happier I took the leap and purchased this watch!

Great Watch
Had this about a month now, upgraded from my Forerunner 45 which served me well for a few years. The combination of the AMOLED display and touch screen of the FR165 alone is worth the cost of the watch. Data generated by this watch is much better and easy to actually view on the watch itself. The morning report is nice, access to various data points using the touch screen interface is really easy.
I've been following the "Suggested Run" that the watch generates each day and really like this feature. For me, it seems to be spot on what I can do without being too little or too much.
I consider this a real value.

Excellent
Bought this watch and been wearing for a month. I use for hiking and walking as I'm not a runner. The GPS and altimeter work great.
Sleep info is accurate and helpful. I like the challenges and tracing of progress. This watch will notify an emergency contact if it detects distress. Awesome if maybe a little sensitive. I stopped my walk to pick up some garbage and got an arm full of ants. As I was quickly swiping them off, the watch sent an emergency message. Guess better safe than sorry but did scare wife. Overall I recommend this watch for quality, slimness and entry level price. I'm sold on Garmin.

Great features for running and battery life
I switched from an Apple Watch to the Garmin forerunner 165 and love it. I debated purchasing the 265 vs 165, but for what I wanted the 165 seemed to cover my needs and was cheaper. The battery life last about 7-8 days and is quick to charge (within an hour it’s fully charged). I don’t love the strength training workout because you have to click each time to stop and start a new set. The reps aren’t very accurate but you can update the reps each time. For running though, it has been great which is my main focus as of now. The treadmill took a few times before it calibrated properly but the outdoor running feature works great. Easy to use and the app shows plenty of great information.
