Rated 4 out of 5 by from Update from a VivoActive 3 I had a VivoActive 3 and do like the VivoActrive 5 better. It has more vivid colors, it was compatible with my favorite watch face "Rails". It seems brighter but I used to use the 3 for a night light walking through a dark room, but the new one doesn't work for that. The old one I charged once a day, the new one goes about 4 days between charges. The 3 used to use 7% of batteries on walks, the 5 only uses 3%. It doesn't keep trying to change watch faces like the 3 did. Not sure I like the morning update feature. I would like to be able to set the Oxygen sensor to check levels once every 10 minutes during the day along with the night monitor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Watch With A Major Flaw The watch has some fantastic features for all sorts of activities and does a great job of tracking your progress. I like that I can simply add my music to it and carry it along for those long runs. Battery life is very good, as well. However, the watch has one major flaw. When I select an activity while listening to music, the watch will immediately disconnect all Bluetooth devices (e.g., phone, headphones, etc.) as it tries to geolocate using GPS. Changing the setting from "All Systems" to "GPS Only" works sometimes but I have still encountered the issue. Reconnecting to Bluetooth devices takes a few minutes, which is tedious and annoying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great running watch with health features I bought this a month ago. I love the traditional Garmin features for running. The battery life is fabulous. The health tracking features are ok. The user interface and overview feel clunky compared to other (ring) health trackers. Some of the health information is a little hard to interpret. I like the integration with the calendar and training plans. I have not used messenger or music. I also haven’t added any widgets. Truthfully, it is so customizable that it is overwhelming. I would like to see more video guides on setting up the watch for specific functions. Overall, it’s a great running watch with some interesting additional features.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but with a FATAL Flaw that MUST be Fixed I've had a vivoactive 4 for ~4years and love it I recently decided to upgrade to the 5 about 2 weeks ago. I wish the size was bigger, like the 4, but I've gotten used to it. The graphics are outstanding and I enjoy many of the other new functions. However, there is a SETIOUS, FATAL flaw. The "Naps" function is GARBAGE. Any time I sit still to work, or rwad or watch TV it registers a nap. I cannot even sit to watch a 30 minute show unless I constantly wave my arm around. There is no way to delete these "naps" and you can't disable it without disabling all of the sleep functionality. I am considering returning the watch if this cannot be fixed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much better than Fitbit! I am thrilled with my new Garmon Vivoactive 5 and the Garmon Connect app. I find the sleep and nap tracking and heart rate very accurate. I bought this to replace my Fitbit after getting so frustrated with the update to the Fitbit app in late 2023 that I gave up. The Garmon Connect app is light years beyond what the Fitbit app ever was even before its horrible update. And the Garmon Connect app is free! I love that I can zoom in on the heart rate graph, and after I workout I can go into my workout on the Connect app and see my heart rate for the duration of my workout (simple things that Fitbit can't do even though they have this data).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice upgrade from Vivoactive HR My old Vivoactive HR broke down and it was time to upgrade. I bought the Vivoactive 5 even though there is a newer version since it was less expensive. The Vivoactive 5 connects to my phone immediately where the HR model took a while to connect after a run or workout. The display is bright and colorful and there are many options for the watch face. The only change I would like to make it to have the time of day on the workout option. Maybe there is a way to add this but I haven't figured it out yet. This model does so much that I can't imagine the Vivoactive 6 having even more features. I'm sure it does but the 5 has plenty of features for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Replacement & Upgrade I've had other fitness trackers for years but have found them to be glitchy within a year of purchase. When I finally reached my frustration limits with the tracker I had, I started looking for an alternative. The Garmin Vivoactive 5 is perfect -- it is an upgrade from my other fitness tracker while still being a mid-range product in terms of price (I've never wanted or needed every possible bell and whistle fitness trackers can provide so I like the midrange models). I'm very pleased with this tracker. The app that comes with it is also much more versatile and informative than the app that came with my previous tracker. I'm officially a Garmin fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this watch! I am a 13 year long Fitbit user and I don’t like what Google has done and they are stopping production. Looking for a new watch I decided to get the Vivoactive 5. I am loving all of the content in the app. I love the GPS on my wrist for walks. It took a second to get used to but I am so glad I chose Gramin over the other options. I am still getting 7 days of battery life (which was very important to me). I have the sleep functions (which I use as a tool since I work nights). If you are looking for a new go to watch after Fitbit flutters into the wind, I highly recommended a Garmin. Plus this watch is also comfortable to wear. Thrilled with my choice.

Can the straps be swapped out?

Thanks for your question Harriet. Yes, The watch is compatible with 20mm wide, standard, quick-release bands. Slide the quick-release pin on the spring bar to remove the band. Insert one side of the spring bar for the new band into the watch. Hope this helps! ^CO

Can you accept calls and send reply to text message from the watch?

Hi Cands. When you receive a phone call on your connected phone, the Vívoactive 5 watch displays the name or phone number of the caller. However to talk to the caller, you must use your connected phone. Additionally, it does enable you to reply to texts and view photos sent to you. We trust this helps with your query
