A little on the slow side to turn on, and a couple of special requirements eg, taring the scale when you move it and having to input external measurements to make the accuracy a bit better were a learning curve but now I know. Enjoy the auto syncing with Garmin Connect and that all data is now in one place.

Measurements seem accurate and consistent. Looks nice, although being black, doesn't take too much too look a little 'dirty' - but it doesn't take much more to clean also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chris from Great scales if you’ve got the $$ Great scales but a bit overpriced would recommend getting them on sale. The set up can be a touch tricky. I needed to manually install a few software updates. Links to Garmin app easily enough though. Black Material looks very nice but can get water spots quite easily.

I am very doubtful that the body fat % readings are accurate as they fluctuate quite wildly. Still, a good set of scales for basic use.

How accurate is the body composition data? Is it applicable to all ages? How has it been validated?

Great question Moira. According to Garmin, the device sends an imperceptible electrical current from one foot, through your body to the other foot. The device then measure the electrical signal after it passes through the body to estimate aspects of your body composition. The device is suitable for those 18 and over. Validation calculations are not supplied by Garmin. Hope this helps! ^CO
