Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the coffee! Got one of these for Christmas. It’s not fully auto but what you have to do manually isn’t that difficult. Once I got the hang of the grind size for various brands and how hard you need to tamp it you sort of get the gist of keeping the gauge in the best extraction range. The coffee I think is amazing. I don’t have the time with a disabled son or the money to hang at coffee shops much. Three months later I think it’s paid for itself already. If you have the money for the fully auto go ahead you can probably sit down while it does it for you but honestly this takes no longer than if I stood waiting for the kettle to boil so I’m happy I didn’t spend a lot more.

Quite a bit of sorting the grind and making sure the pressure is the most efficient etc. Once sorted this machine will constantly produce quality coffee and with minimal maintenance each day. I would have this every day as opposed to cafe blend. Can experiment easily with different types and not always control the end result. Only one to blame is yourself. Have recommended this machine to several people now and they all enjoy the results, some of whom would be coffee snobs too. Great machine, compact enough to be on the bench all the time ready to go and elegant enough to be part of the equipment in the kitchen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coffee once you have the settings dialed in I've had this for just over a month and have been loving the coffee it has been producing lately. The most important thing with this machine is you need fresh beans! I've tried extracting from a few different types of beans and the difference between freshly roasted and old beans is unbelievable. The settings on this machine are easy to tweak but you can expect to go through quite a bit of beans when first setting it up. I've noticed the settings also need tweaking when changing bean types to get the pressure gauge in the right zone. Now I've had it for a while and dialed in the settings perfectly, I get a great extraction every single time and coffee that easily rivals a cafe's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best coffee I bought this machine from Harvey Norman Warrawong only 2 days ago upgraded from a pod machine. Spent the first day reading the instruction manual and following all the instructions to a tee and testing out different grind settings. My first batch of coffee beans were not fresh so no crema. They had been sitting in our pantry opened for over 12 months. Went out to buy fresh beans and what a difference!! Hopefully this machine will continue to give our family the coffee that we love. It will pay for its self in only a few months. Also some great training videos on youtube for this machine that are worth watching if your a bit nervous like I was about using an expresso machine.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great at first but..... I'm 2.5 years into my Breville Barista Express experience & I must say the first 2.5 years have been pretty spectacular coffee quality wise. However, should a machine of this pedigree last longer than 2.5 years & the answer has to be yes. Fastidiously maintained but now showing apparent signs of a loss of pump power. In spite of the pressure gauge indicating ideal pressure levels, the flow of coffee from the group head is muted ie. it drips rather than trickles or flows. This is nothing to do with grind size , because the first 2.5 blissful years never indicated the problem I'm now experiencing. Perhaps the machine needs a proper Breville servicing? Is there such a service? I can't recommend the product if it deteriorates to this extent after 2.5 years.

But I wanted to add milk and love silky froth so I looked around for ages and eventually went to try one at a friend's place who had same model. Thought I would be a bit annoyed at extra labour involved. But this machine is super easy to use and very satisfying getting the grind/pressure/milk etc right. Love it. And fresh grind to coffee is just great,the smell is divine and it is like being in a good cafe every morning in my house now.Bought the black which looks sleek and is easy to clean.

I did my homework and took the advice of my barista brother in law and purchased the Brevilla "The Barista Express" Espresso Machine. It WOW'ed me from the moment I unpacked it. This awesome machine came with everything I needed, all top quality too. The instructions were easy to follow and I was able to set up with no issues at all. So now, not only does it look amazing on my kitchen top, it also creates the most perfect coffee. Thank you Breville for a wonderful machine and thank you Harvey Norman for an awesome customer experience. Best birthday present EVER!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional results on a budget I only just got this machine so the honeymoon phase is beginning, but I'm an experienced home coffee making having different machines over the year. I switched back to this one because I no longer enjoyed the pod machine I had, the plastic pods, the taste no longer did it for me. I chose this as I got it on sale and it had the coffee grinder in it which is FAB. The quality is like store bought. Small size but looks high end on the bench. Tips - use fresh beans and ensure you have the grind set to like 5, the finer the grind it often doesn't work. I use fresh beans filter trays, fresh water every second day. I really enjoying getting up and making my brew!

Questions & Answers

If you want to switch from standard coffee beans to decaf - do you have to scoop all the beans out each time to swap them? Or is there an easier way to do this? We use both standard and decaf on a daily basis.

Hi there, thanks for your question. To save time, you don't need to scoop the beans to replace them. There is a lock/unlock system where you can twist the hopper to detach it from the machine and you can pour this out to replace the beans. Hope this helps! Please note, the machine does come with a manual which will instruct how to do this, moving forward.

Does this have a cup warming area on top?

Hi Louise. Thanks for your question. This has a cup warming try on the top of the machine. A warm cup will help maintain the coffee’s optimal temperature. Pre-heat your cup by rinsing with hot water and place on the cup warming tray. Hope this helps
