Love the coffee!
Got one of these for Christmas. It’s not fully auto but what you have to do manually isn’t that difficult. Once I got the hang of the grind size for various brands and how hard you need to tamp it you sort of get the gist of keeping the gauge in the best extraction range. The coffee I think is amazing. I don’t have the time with a disabled son or the money to hang at coffee shops much. Three months later I think it’s paid for itself already. If you have the money for the fully auto go ahead you can probably sit down while it does it for you but honestly this takes no longer than if I stood waiting for the kettle to boil so I’m happy I didn’t spend a lot more.

Problems with this machine
We bought this to replace our old breville that had lasted 10 years.
While under warranty it had a problem where it would not stop extraction and would just keep pumping water. This was fixed under warranty, but now 8 months later its doing it again and of course it's out of the 12 month warranty now.
Not impressed with it.

The BEST BREVILLE EVER!
I recently had the unfortunate experience of my work-horse Breville coffee machine wanting to take a break, and after a wonderful and enlightening conversation with Breville support (HUGE SHOUT OUT TO AVILE and Keletso) I was gleefully purchasing this awesome new machine. Now my coffees can compete with la Marzocco! I can develop my appreciation for beans, grinds, and even coffee art. This machine will not make you a snob - rather it brings love, kindness, respect and integrity to every sip! I can say this because the empathy, support and knowledge these stunning women brought to the experience, bound within my machine, infuses every cup. I'm so very grateful... thank you!

Water disbursement totally inconsistent
I was so excited about getting this machine after using a pod machine for almost 10 years. It looks great, the grinder is excellent, the machine is all around easy to use, BUT the water disbursement was inconsistent every single time I made a coffee. In the two weeks I owned the machine and after 40 coffees, only twice did I get a decent coffee with the right espresso shot amount (60ml for double). I used the same grind course, the same grind amount, tamped it, levelled it off, used the same coffee beans and even though I always used the double shot button, it would sometime come out from between 20ml to 50ml. The dial pressure was always spot-on, right in the middle of greyed area. I returned this although the Good Guys were hesitant about taking this back.

Easy to use and EXCELLENT coffee
The Barista Express has saved me so much time and money from before, when I used to travel to the café every day. It’s easy to use, and the coffee tastes even better because I can fine-tune it to my personal preference and taste. The setup process was very simple, and the included instructions contained helpful images and a step-by-step guide to make my first coffee. Once I had set the machine up I registered online and found several fantastic videos about making latte art and maintaining my new machine. I have really enjoyed the Barista Express, and I would recommend it to all of my friends.

I liked it so much I bought it again!
I bought my first Barista Express 3rd hand from someone online, and it did not disappoint from the word go. The built in grinder is the best part because it is so convenient and compact in my small kitchen, and allows me to get the very freshest ground coffee. I love the calming ritual of a simple manual machine, and will often make a coffee to take with me in the car becuase my homemade lattes are never disappointing! With freshly roasted beans, my home made coffees are easily as good as 90% of what I buy in cafes. Friends who visit tell me the same thing!
So my old machine is now in the campervan, and my lovely new matt black Barista Express is in prime position in the kitchen, making me happy every morning :-D
