Excellent new addition
I purchased this around a month ago as a replacement for my Dyson 360 and my Wash G1. Was very unsure whether spending this amount was vendor indeed sensible, however, I must admit this replacement has been a dream to me. Performs very well, functionality excellent. The technology is well thought out and the design is good. Heavy item when you do need to lift it to clean sensors, filters etc. and the base needs more space, but….i can live with that once a week or so as this new addition to my home has proved so far to be very useful. I particularly like the fact it empties itself and washes/dries the brushes. All round good quality. I’m happy!

Seriously Unimpressed
I am really disappointed with this. We live in a Victorian house with rugs that have fringes, the robot constantly gets stuck on the fringes,I believe it would work significantly better in a contemporary home with uniform flooring. I don’t find the vacuuming power good enough, and the wet floor function leaves small puddles of dirty foam on the wooden floor which have created small stains. I will be selling this secondhand.

The best mopping vacuum I ever tried
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Gifted by Dyson
I honestly love the design of this mopping vacuum. The base is a little bigger than some other vacuums I’ve seen, but it looks sleek and feels very sturdy. What really impressed me is how powerful it is. Even on quiet mode it cleans my tile floors amazingly well. My tiles have honestly never looked this clean before. The setup was also super simple and quick.
The initial scan of my home took less than 10 minutes, which surprised me because I have a pretty big house. Everything was easy to connect and start using right away. Overall, it made keeping my floors clean so much easier.

Good cleaning but needs better software.
Worse than the 360 Eye we used to have. The cleaning is good and it's quiet, but it misses large amounts of our house no matter how mn times we remap it. At first we had issues with it turning on in the middle of the night, but that seemed to sort itself out, seemed to be working on Singapore time rather than UK. The base station is quite bulky but is well designed. Hopefully they will fix our issues with further software updates.

Hassle-free floor washing at last
I must confess that I love Dyson vacuums, so was really happy to finally get my hands on one that vacuums and washes without the hassle of having to empty after every clean – the dock promises 30 days of cleaning before needing emptying and refilling.
We have lots of tiled floors which usually only get an occasional wipe over. After the first wash with the Spot+Scrub they looked great. When we first got it I was mesmerised watching it do the cleaning, getting into the corners and under furniture, revealing the dust with its green light which I’d missed in the past.
I was a bit sceptical about how well a robot would vacuum our light coloured carpets, but with it being a Dyson I should have known it would do a good job and wasn't disappointed. Once connected to the app it was easy to program which rooms to clean and how often.
So far, so good.

My new favorite home helper
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been really enjoying using this robot vacuum. It does a great job picking up dust and debris, and the mopping function leaves my floors looking fresh and clean. What surprised me most is how quiet it is compared to what I expected. The self-cleaning feature is a big plus and makes it very easy to maintain. I also like being able to use the MyDyson app to send it to clean a specific area if something spills, which is very convenient. It mapped my home quickly and now moves around very smoothly. Overall, it’s made keeping my floors clean so much easier, and I find myself using it almost every day. gifted by dyson

My Home Has Never Been This Clean❤️
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Gifted by Dyson. I’m honestly very impressed with this robot! It mapped my entire home quickly and now cleans every room with great precision. It reaches corners surprisingly well and picks up dirt and dust effortlessly. I love that it works beautifully on both my rugs and laminate floors. The vacuum is also very quiet, which makes it perfect to run anytime without disturbing the house. The dry and wet cleaning features leave the floors looking spotless. It saves me so much time and keeps my home consistently clean. I truly have no complaints and absolutely love it!

Good on hard floors, but has limitations.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was invited by Dyson to review the new Spot+Scrub Ai robot, having owned and had a very positive experience with the previous generation Dyson 360 VisNav robot for the past 2 years. Unboxing the unit with considerable excitement, it was pleasing note that the packaging was well thought out and premium in nature, with a noticeable effort to minimise any plastics used. The dock is quite imposing once assembled, not surprisingly much larger than the more basic dock I am used to with the VisNav. I was surprised by how much larger the Spot+Scrub robot is - now in a more conventional round from, it is at least 40% larger than the VisNav. Simple assembly & setup instructions were very intuitive and the dock was easily clicked together and the robot prepared and placed on the dock. Connecting to the Dyson app was very smooth, the robot being recognised immediately, and after connecting to WiFi it downloaded the latest firmware and was ready to go. The unit looks good, with a premium feel, though it is a little muted with a mostly black colour scheme, lacking the usual Dyson flair for a bright blue / purple / yellow statement piece to draw the eye.
Mapping of the space was easily initiated using the app, however, this is where the experience soured a little. The addition of the Lidar sensor to help with the guidance is a welcome upgrade to the vision only navigation found on the VisNav, however, the Spot+Scrub relies too heavily on the lidar scan and this creates problems when faced with low windows which the lidar scan passed straight through, thus including garden features as part of the room map. Compounding this problem is that the map does not appear to be able to be adjusted afterwards, so my current downstairs map is grossly overstating the size of the living room on account of the window. Mapping was fast (around 10 minutes), and the AI does a fair job of assessing room transitions (living to hallway etc), and this can be fine tuned later to help optimise zoning. Overall the older VisNav was much more accurate with the mapping (albeit much slower taking about 40 minutes in the same space) which came as a big surprise.
Vacuuming performance was also quite mixed. The machine is much quieter than any Dyson I have owned previously, however, from the noises it makes, it is clear that it lacks the signature Dyson High Speed Motor found in my VisNav and most other Dyson machines. On hard floors, vacuuming performance was fine – we have 2 cats and a dog, and the machine did a good job picking up the inevitable fur and dust-bunnies that seem to appear in mere hours at home. I was disappointed with the carpet performance. Mapping and then vacuuming the carpeted area upstairs, the machine did a thorough job (though the void for the stairs also impacted the mapping lidar scan), and it was returned to the dock with a full dust bin. However, as an experiment I then immediately ran my old VisNav over the same space, and it removed a full dust bin again from the carpet. I have run the same test on the VisNav previously, and on a second run, the dust load is massively reduced, so it was very clear that the old VisNav considerably outperforms the Spot+Scrub on carpet. The Spot Scrub also does not have any indication of how much dirt it is collecting, unlike the dirt ‘heatmap’ that the VisNav is able to generate. The self emptying function is a nice feature, but it did struggle to empty when the bin was full (cat hair mostly). A second manually initiated empty cycle through the app was able to clear the bin completely. One area where the Spot+Scrub did excel was ‘dust-bunnies’. Because the suction is set fairly low when running on hard floors, the exhaust of the vacuum is minimal and it does not blow ‘dust-bunnies’ out of the way when turning, something that the VisNav is very prone to doing with the much more powerful suction motor.
Mopping performance was considerably better. Though there was a small issue of the being no floor cleaning solution in the box with the machine (this was overcome from my stock of solution used with another wet floor cleaning system), the dock tanks were loaded with water and the mop cycle started. This turned out to be a false start – the machine did not prime correctly and was running dry. Manually aborting the clean sent the robot back to the dock where it did a self clean of the roller (it got wet this time), and diving into the settings, I modified the wash program to do ‘Extended Roller Priming’ to ensure this did not occur again. Once again, the mopping cycle was started, and the Spot+Scrub got down to business. The machine was able to run to complete the cycle without any significant issues, repeatedly returning to the dock for a thorough roller clean. Initially I had the machine set to water level 2, however, this was much too wet (and generated a lot of foam). Reducing this to water level 1 got excellent results. The heated water (and correct amount of water) meant that the floor dried quicky and the quality of the clean was good. It isn’t amazing at getting into corners, but overall got good coverage and did a decent job of the clean. One downside with the mopping was its behaviour around rugs. The machine will lift the mop roller when carpet is detected, and this works quite well, but with a shagpile rug, it still gets quite damp. Also, the Spot+Scrub does not appear to automatically learn the position of rugs and carpet during the vacuuming cycle or update the map in any way, so it tries to mop the whole area. Rules can be added manually into the map in the app to create a ‘Vacuum Only’ area around rugs, and this is essential to ensure that the robot steers adequately clear to prevent them getting inadvertently wet.
Overall my initial feelings on the Spot+Scrub are a bit mixed.
The addition of lidar means it is able to map quickly, and provide a very easy to understand realtime map of where the robot has been in the space, but the map accuracy is not great, and cannot be adjusted to improve it. The older 360 VisNav was unable to give you any progress map, and its movement was more random and harder to judge what it was up to, but it mapped much more accurately, spends far less time fussing around low obstacles (which the Lidar on the Spot+Scrub misses), and was able to provide a dirt ‘heat map’ which while a bit of a gimmick, was very insightful.
The ability of the Spot+Scrub to self empty addresses one of the big complaints around limited bin space on the older VisNav, but the cleaning performance on carpet is compromised, with the VisNav drastically out-performing.
The addition of the mopping function is very welcome, and it works well, but the apparent lack of ability to learn where rugs and carpet are and update the map accordingly over time is a disappointment.
The Dyson Spot+Scrub I feel is a bit of a miss for Dyson – it is fine, but it lacks any killer must have feature (Digital Motor, class leading suction, class leading performance). If you are a hard floor household, it will do a good job, but for carpet when compared to the previous Dyson 360 VisNav, it is not up to the task. If you are shopping for your first robot vacuum, the Spot+Scrub Ai is a contender, but there is little to differentiate it from the competition. If you are an existing Dyson 360 VisNav owner looking to upgrade, I would hold off and consider a Dyson G1 Wash to cover your mopping needs.
