Maddening.
I'm on my fourth of these. They work for a few weeks, then they stop charging the phone -- or, more entertainingly, start-charging-and-then-stop-charging-and-then-start-charging over and over again several times a second, so my iPhone looks like it's having a seizure. The fact that this is Apple's recommended accessory is joke. But I have no choice -- there's no other way to charge your phone and use earbuds at the same time -- so I keep buying new ones and adding to the graveyard of dead RockStars. On to my fifth... I'll avoid both Belkin and Apple products in the future, but for now there's no other option.

Short lifespan
I have bought two of these charging/audio cables to get power and audio in my car for my iPhone 8 Plus. Neither one lasted longer than 2 months of use. This product is extremely expensive when you consider that you will have to purchase a new one every other month. Extremely disappointing.

Headphone splitter we wanted from the Beginning
Belkin should have made this Headphone splitter adapter from the beginning. It does everything you want. It allows you to use your old 3.5mm headphones, charge your phone while listening to music/talking on phone, allows headphone controls to work, and also allows data passage through for syncing and file transfer. The only thing this doesn't allow is 2 headphones usage (one 3.5mm and one lightning), but Belkin already said that doesn't work on their page and that would be a rarely used option anyways (sharing on a bus or plane?). I'll probably buy another.
I have the Belkin Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar and now that is wasted now (didn't allow data passage).

Works great!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Although there’s a lot of wireless earbud options these days, I often find myself grabbing my wired buds, especially for long trips. I’m happy to have a solution that allows me to use my wired earbuds and charge my iPhone at the same time!! The 3.5 mm Audio jack also works well with AUX cords and or speakers. The connections are snug and fit well. Overall this is very convenient and works great! If you have a newer iPhone but love your wired earbuds like I do, you will want this! It’s great for plane trips or times when you need to charge your phone, but you also want to enjoy your music too!

Doesn’t last
Bought it 3 months ago and it stops charging on and off, even sitting still it will stop and start again. I lose audio sometimes too and have to unplug and plug back in. Been getting worse and just stops charging all together in the last few days. The adapter hasn’t been bent or anything, seems to just be poorly made with how many others have had this issue

Horrible Lifespan
I've bought about 6-7 of these in the past 2 years and all of them have not lasted beyond 3 months of use before they start having issues with the audio. The best I've had with this product is 6 months. Please work on your quality of your products to make them last longer than 6 months.

Disappointed. Bad quality.
Went through two of these in the past year and a half. First one mysteriously stopped working shortly after purchase. And when it was working I would occasionally have to replug it in a few times because audio would play on speakerphone. I chalked it up to it being the odd lemon so I bought another one. Second one worked fine at first but now the cord is starting to fray and yellow with the volume changing at different angles; it's been about a year with only home/at desk use. For its price point, you're better off just looking for a cheaper alternative and replacing that if it breaks.

Charge and Listen
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received my 3.5mm Audio + Charge RockStar (full disclosure) through the Belkin's Fans First program. My job requires a lot of travel and use of my iPhone 7 and occasionally I have had to stop using my sound cancelling ear buds so I could charge and listen. I tried a charging adapter that supposedly would let you listen, but the iPhone popped up a message that it couldn't support this equipment, so I sent it back. (always read the reviews before ordering!!) Anyway, I finally got a chance to work and use the RockStar. The short lead from the connector to the RockStar is extra heavy, with strain relief at the connection points. I have no concerns that it will accrue wear and tear over time, these is a major stress point of the adaptor. The rest of the unit is well designed and appears to be built of materials that can take mobile office use. I use high-end noise cancelling earphones and the controls on the cord, (volume, pause, hang up, skip track, sound cancel) work just like they do without the RockStar inline.
