Could be better
Bought this a couple of months ago to replace an HX50. Having a viewfinder is great though having to 'erect' it every time is a pain and also makes it vulnerable. The camera is a bit smaller than the previous one, perhaps a bit too small. It also doesn't seem to focus well with some subjects / light conditions. The GPS is nigh on useless, it takes too long to get a fix. One improvement over the HX50 is the ability to disable the movie button which is still badly positioned. It is also much more cumbersome to use - having to launch 'apps' to do things like control from your phone. It was so simple and much quicker with the previous camera.

Super zoom in your pocket
When I'm out on my bike, I will not always have my Sony a7s and 70-200mm lens on me... For obvious reasons. But this little Dynamo is always on hand when I'm riding down at the beach, out in the bush or wherever to capture a shot of whales, kangaroos, birds etc. and with the evf I don't have to worry about spotting my subject in bright sunlight. The selfie style monitor has also come in handy for those selfie shots with the Kangaroos down on Lucky Bay. Brilliant!
Yes the controls are small, but to get the features on such a compact camera, of course they will be small.

A great improvement over its predecessors
I bought this as soon as it appeared in my local store after reading about it on the Sony website. I have had it for about 2-3 weeks and used it several times on differing subjects.
The monitor screen is hard to see in bright light especially as I have Reactolite lenses in my glasses, but I have now found the monitor brightness setting.
However the new EVF solves that particular problem. It is easy to use and shows the display data clearly. The focus ring is another great feature and the onscreen display lets you know what zoom you are using.
I have found the quality and clarity of the photo's to be outstanding

Takes a while...
I had TWO Sony Cybershot DSC and have loved them. However, I wanted a viewfinder as well, so when I dropped and broke my beloved DSC50 I replaced it with the HX90. I usually shoot on APerture Priority but I just could NOT get this to work properly - it shot 2 frames instead of 1, the pictures were ridiculously blurred, couldn’t even make them work on AutoISO. So I managed to get my DSC50 working and copied all the settings from that across as far as I could. Now, so far, so good... somehow, things are better. I thought I understood how to use AP, but clearly not. The manual isn’t helpful. Now that I’m using it on these copied settings, though, I’m happy again.

HX90V - Something's not quite right !
I purchased my HX90V in September 2015, Overall a nice piece of kit, really great images, struggles in low light an macro focus on the poor side. Designe: The on /off switch on the top would be better as a slide switch rather than a tiny little button that is flush with the top of the camera. The function knob on the top would benifit from a "Lock" button in the centre as on the A77m2. The camera has 3 ways you can turn it on and 2 ways you can turn it off ... don't understand WHY ? By October 2015 I realised that there was yet another way this camera can be turned on and off, it will do it all by itself without warning.

Awesome Compact Camera
Bought this before the holidays, tried it during our recent roadtrip, i'd say it's an excellent Compact camera. It's a perfect camera for those who are not really into professional photography, but loves taking pictures. 2 of the features i really like are the flip screen and the 30x digital zoom. Tried it during the Hopman Cup, I was able to take really good close up, action shots. Selfies wouldn't be more of a trial and error anymore because of the flip screen, however I wish the 3sec timer could be changed. Also the timer beeps could be a bit distracting when sneaking/taking selfies in quiet places. Overall, it's an excellent camera, especially for those who loves selfies, and making vlogs. Highly recommended.

DSC-HX90V
What a great little Camera. It does everything so well, except, if you buy the "genuine" accessory case, remove the raised strip that contacts the bottom of the display panel at the back. Too much pressure is applied here and the sensor for the panel can think its open and displays upside down. Remove the sealed in strip and problem solved. It took a couple day for things to return to normal, no issue since.
Sorry, had to put this here, the accessory review wouldn't allow an update.

Lightweight with great zoom range
Lots of features which I am just getting to grips with. The flash is very fiddly to bring up which must be done before it can be used. My previous one came up automatically. I take a lot of photos in bright sunshine so pop up viewfinder is great as I can see what I am taking rather than guessing. As a small point I pick it up and cannot immediately recognise whether it is upside down, which if you are in a rush to take a photo can be annoying. Buttons etc are all very small especially the on off button. I do not think it would be suitable for someone with big fingers.
Other than that I am very pleased with my decision to buy it and would buy another.
