BREAKS EASILYI have had the KitchenAid mixer with a glass bowl for several years. While replacing the bowl last week I BARELY (cannot stress that word enough) tapped the side of the bowl on the attachment rod and a giant chunk of glass just broke off. I have since read that others have even been injured and these bowls shattering mid-mix! Be CAREFUL and I advise going with a metal bowl instead. The mixer itself works perfectly well, that I will say. But I would not advise getting one with a glass bowl. So disappointed but glad I was not injured. KitchenAid has, so far, just told me to purchase a new bowl as my mixer is outside the 1 year warranty.

Great bowl but breaks and cracks extremely easyI have purchased 2 of these bowls for my wife and she absolutely loves them. However durability is an issue. The first one shattered when it bumped the rear of the machine while removing and the other cracked when it bumped the attachment shaft while removing. Neither impact seemed to be of sufficient force to cause damage. My wife bakes custom cookies and refused to even consider using it while cracked out of fear of glass ending up in the dough. I guess I’ll purchase yet another, as a second bowl is a necessity. I really don’t feel that a tempered glass is being used for these, as easy as they seem to crack and shatter.

Broken soon after purchase X 2I have had 2 of these glass mixer bowls for my artisan stand mixer. Both bowls I have had have broken soon after purchase. I used my bowls maybe once every week or two for light residential use. I made sure to hand wash only and to dry the bowl right away when I was done with it. Being they were glass, I was always extra cautious when using them. The first bowl got a hairline crack at the bottom by the gray ring and the second bowl chipped a decent chunk of glass out by the pour spout. I followed instructions for use. Pour spout and handle never touched pedestal and beater to bowl clearance was fine. Do not recommend and will not purchase one of these again.

Something different[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I waited for a long time to buy this bowl as at first it was readily available and I was overjoyed to receive it. What is that saying about being careful of the things you wish for ... I am an arthritic retiree and I didn't take notice of the weight of this bowl and although it is great to see what I'm mixing I love that But handling the bowl with a cake mix in it when pouring into a baking pan or even a kugelhof mould is impossible for me without help. So sadly I'll not be using it too much and will revert to the standard aluminium bowl more often than not. Not the fault of KitchenAid just something I never gave a thought too.

Difficult to replaceI’ve had my Artisan mixer about 5 years and use several times a week. I’ve always hand washed the glass bowl and taken care with removing from the mixer base. My bowl cracked into 3 large pieces about 2 weeks ago and I had no idea it would be so difficult to replace the bowl. I did not save the gray ring on the bottom- no idea it was removable and as the bowl was broken it would have been impossible to try to unscrew safely. Now notice other reviewers asking about the gray ring. Is this included? My mixer is sitting idle until I can resolve! Review is for the glass bowl- mixer is great. If cracked bowl cannot be replaced with the same the mixer will have to be replaced. Model KSM155GBAZ

Be sure to adjust the Beater to Bowl clearance!Before using the glass bowl, be sure to check the Beater to Bowl clearance! Some reviews state that their bowl cracked after a few uses. Most likely this is from the beater hitting the bowl. The glass is thicker than the Steel bowl. Check each of your beaters. If you see that some of the coating has chipped off the beater, then it most likely been striking the bowl. The adjustment is easy to do.

Don't Buy This Bowl!!!I purchased this bowl for my wife last Christmas and it has been a total waste of money! The bowl will not attach to the stand and just spins when used! Not good. It looks like the base has glass "wedges" that are supposed to jam under the catches in the base, but the wedges are too small to work properly. I have contacted Kitchenaid several times but with no resolution. Kitchenaid sent a plastic ring they thought would work, but nope! It is too small for the bowl! This is very poorly designed and crafted! Do not buy!

Almost love itMy friend got me this on my birthday. I always wanted a glass bowl on my Guava Glaze Kitchenaid Mixer. I just loved how it looked but when I used it to make cookie doughs it won't twist to get removed off my mixer. I did everything from spraying the bottom with cooking oil to placing them down the floor and twist it with your hands while your legs keep them at one place. It didn't work. So I had to wait to my husband to come back from work and when he tried to remove the bowl from the mixer it broke and scratched my very dear pink mixer. I'm telling you I cried and kept thinking about it. I hope they would have make the bowl stronger. :-(
