Poor temperature - makes slushy sandwiches
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this as an upmarket replacement for our old much loved cheaper model plain sandwich press which unfortunately eventually died
Alas I don't know if this is normal or just an issue with our machine but this new model doesn't actually toast the sandwiches - it just makes them wet and slushy - it doesn't matter what setting we use on the temp dial (even sear is useless)
The insides do warm up - the cheese melts and so on but the bread is never toasted - just wet
I'll probably just opt for the plain Toast & Melt version with the two flat plates and no controls and hope it's like our old press

The Best Appliance Ever!
My old sandwich maker broke, and I bought 2 new ones from other brands, however they were worse than each other! Then mt friends reccomened this,and I was originally not going to buy it because of the price, however thought I'd give it a go. it turned out to be the best thing ever! I use it many times a day, for so many difrerent things, from toasting, to grilling, and even frying! It is so good, as you can save space in you cupboards by having an appliace that does a million things, it also stands up vertically for storage, so you can slot it in at the side of a cupboard, and don't have to take up space on the bench! I would definatly reccomend the "AdjustaGrill™ & Press", as it has so many uses, and cooks really well!

Great to use, but non-stick doesn't last long
Easy to use, but not for long as non stick wears off within a month or two's use. We have had two of this model & both have done this. Breville were totally unhelpful with the warranty, although it was well within the 2year warranty.

Loyal Breville Fan! Does not Disappoint!
I purchased the Breville Adjusta Grill & Press Sandwich Maker. My grandmother purchased one back in 2004, and then my mum loved it and bought one herself. I have now purchased one 16 years later as I have moved out. It's a kitchen staple in my home. Used for everything from the obvious toasted sandwiches, to steaks, bacon, hamburger patties. It's an adjustable double sided hot plate which is super versatile. It's most definitely worth splurging for the adjustable model as opposed to the cheaper toast and melt model. Super easy to clean and heats up quickly.

Goes the distance
I've had two of these in a row now. The surface eventually died on my original one (I'm a very heavy user) after 3 years. Have had my current one for two and is holding up well. Glad to see the design change in the top plate so there's now no drips behind the unit and the catch tray works perfectly. I'd say I use this daily with everything from sandwiches, grilling meat, awesome crispy bacon and even pancakes are surprisingly good. When my current ones surface gives up, I'll definitely be replacing it with the same unit.

Disappointed
GR250 was bought 14 months ago. The non stick coating has had it. It is very black and starting to lift in the centre. The left hand hinge no longer works and top always falls to left. I think a bolt thread is stripped. I have a few Breville products and like them. Personally i would like to see Breville make a stainless or carbon steel surface on the sandwich press. I would also suggest they make the adjustable stands at front 4mm higher as customers do not always want the butter/fat etc to dribble off.
