I didn't quite understand the chicken-and-egg directions: my desktop didn't have wifi with which to download the software, which is why I bought the USB adapter in the first place. After a few calls to tech, we figured out that I could use my wifi-enabled laptop to download the software, transfer to a thumb drive, and upload to the desktop. I'm sure a tech-minded person would have interpreted the directions that way from the get-go, but we got there eventually! This little thing works great for desktop gaming and we haven't had any trouble. I think it was a good investment!

Very Impressive
I have an old hand me down computer and the wifi adapter was very old so I decided to give NETGEAR AC600 Dual Band WiFi USB Adapter (A6100) a try. Best decision ever! As soon as I opened the box I was very impressed how sleek and compact, barely noticeable this was. The installation couldn't of been easier! Now I am connected and my internet is running 4x as fast as it was. I have been using Netgear products for litterly decades. This just proves why! Bravo Netgear you knocked it outta the park with this device!! So if your considering it - trust me you won't be dissappointed. Good job Netgear and Thank you!!

directions are worthless
opened box, directions said insert install CDvideo, no CD in box. went to your website, connected USB to desktop, loaded install software, your adapter did not work, 18 hours of your tech support did not help, finally disconnected adapter, di the uninstall, remove all files, rebooted desktop, reinstalled install software and connected USB adapter when software called for, works great now, your install genie has a option to check for upgrade, it does not work, downloads to 20% and stalls, your adapter is a piece of junk!

Great for PCs without motherboard WIFI built in
This device has made it super convinent to connect to the wifi without needing to buy a whole new motherboard that has it built in!

Most modern laptops and desktop, don’t have cd
What are you supposed to, to get the install if you have no cd drive, and the adapter will not connect to the internet for you to download the installation, since it first requires the installation. This seems like something that could have been solved by including a basic install, then once connected to the internet get the full update if needed. Otherwise this is completely useless

The WiFi adapter works just like salesperson said it would. However, being computer challenged, I had trouble setting it up. I went online registered my adapter and then call for help. The computer e pert walked me thru every step. He was very patient with me and made sure before we hung up, I was definitely working. The adapter is great but the service from Netgear is superb.

This is a 10/10. I had no wifi on my gaming pc but as soon as I did some steps with a live chat agent and inserted the netgear into my pc, it worked! Wifi connections popped up. This is sure a life saver if you struggle. Now I game on my pc all because of netgear! Thank you for saving my life. 10/10 5 star product.

Didn't even last 5 months
I bought this at the beginning of January in 2022. It worked well enough until roughly March/April. That's when it started dropping the connection more frequently. Now, in May of 2022, it's basically unusable. Once inserted, I usually get a message that the device has malfunctioned. After removing and inserting 1 to 5 times, it will work..... for ten whole minutes if I'm lucky. Usually I get five minutes or less. Then I get the message that it malfunctioned and the computer can't recognize it again. I got it working long enough to click "write a review," give my rating, add a title, and write one sentence of the review....
The netgear I bought in 2014/2015 lasted more than five years, and it would have lasted longer if it hadn't gotten so banged up. This one couldn't even make it a whole five months while being treated 100x better. Not happy.
