Pretty lame
It's a very good product -in theory- but still a long way to be a real "assistant". Plenty of times it doesn't get what we're saying, sometimes it answers when nobody called it, so many times it gets freezed and keep playing music when we ask to shut up and we have to unplug it from the power.The vocal recognition works just with me while my wife is always recognised as a guest, no matter how many times we sampled her voice.I have one for every room, and made groups, but quite often the groups aren't working so you call for some music on a group and it just comes from a single speaker.It really need a drastic improvment as atm is pretty lame.

Cheap and frustrating
I've had three of these. On a very good day, they are slightly helpful. But the microphones are pretty poor at picking up voices; we found ourselves having to shout 2-3 times at it just for it to pick up our instructions far too often.One of mine then developed a hardware issue where it kept saying "the microphone is off, the microphone is on". Annoying at 4pm. Frightening at 4am. It went into the bin.Had to factory reset one to set it up in a new room; after this it no longer connects to my Wi-Fi despite several attempts and resets.I'm down to just one in my main room now. No desire to keep replacing them, given all the issues I've had with them.

Google nest mini
Was initially easy to set up but had some difficulties adding my children (issues syncing/finding google nest to connect profiles). Worked well 1st day. 2 days in stopped working - assistant says glitch. Have reset multiple times and factory reset 3x. Looked online and saw it’s a common issue/ fault and limited support from google on how to fix - seriously who has time to reset 10x in a row?! I bought this as we are a mixed iPhone/android house and I liked that small children didn’t need a device to be set up (unlike apple). Also google is a better assistant than Siri - nest is now in a drawer and I’ve bought homepods instead. Google sort out a better fix!

Keeps disconnecting
I have 2 Google home minis and 2 Google Nest minis. The homes dont have all the features of the nest but they stay connected all the time. The nest minis keep disconnecting. I thought it was just the one I bought so I returned it. Same problem. I bought another. Same problem. Very frustrating that every 3 or 4 days it just disconnects and needs to be set up all over again. The longest I have gone without it disconnecting is probably a couple of weeks. Would be a great product if it would stay connected. Im looking at getting another for a different room but seriously considering getting a second hand home instead of a nest.

Its OK
The devices are cheap, however the quality is not really good enough for music, and the wrong device often responds when I would prefer my phone or another device to respond.It however makes a good alarm clock, or for controlling smart lighting. Its a shame you can't set them up to respond to something besides "hey google" so you could get the right device to respond. I gave away some of my google minis as I got frustrated with the wrong device responding. I have a nest hub for example with a screen and will often use it for cooking recipes, however the mini in our study will respond instead sending links to my phone..

Disappointing
Very limited. Routines are ok but lack of delay function is frustrating. When giving it instructions outside of routines, it appears impossible to ask the device to delay a task also. The level of questions it can respond to is not very sophisticated - great for current weather and time but not “what films are on in Sydney this Sunday evening”, for example. Terrific at turning smart lights and plugs on. I generally use it to stream music and radio and not much else. Tells jokes and simple quizzes, which appeals to my small children but it’s not supposed to be a toy. I was hoping for so much more. I’m probably being a bit harsh but it’s failed to connect to my wifi again!

Awesome when it works
Two years ago I got a Google nest mini for free when I went on the YouTube app, it was a present during a difficult time with COVID and I thought that was really lovely. For the first few months I had it it was incredible, but then I moved to NSW and left it in QLD for 17 months. Since I got it back it's stopped working... I don't know what happened to it or if it was on my fault but there's absolutely no sound. This is a bummer, because I was so excited to use it again... And I don't know where to get it fixed. But when it did work, it was amazing. I often played google trivia or guess that song as party games!

Google nest mini
The product is clean, and the sound is of decent quality. Programing runs 99 per cent of the time but could do with better options when a request cannot be fulfilled. Also, in today's technological world, using a small led display instead of just lights could be an improvement to set it aside from other brands. The product could be easier to access for minor repair as I have had one have ants crawl inside and needed to be cleaned out, and it almost destroyed the product to get into the inside. Overall, the product is priced well, but there is room for improvement.Well done to the Google design team, and I am looking forward to future product iterations.Respectfully4017 Tech
