OK I am a Sonos convert and have been adding to the system over a number of years and I highly rate the products I have, 2 play 5's (stereo pair), play 3 and a connect. All work well and sound great. So why buy a Sub? The play 5's are in a large kitchen dining room and while sounding good just seemed to lack something. With thhe Sub added the sound is FAB and fills the room and if in the mood requires it can rattle the glasses in the cupboards. My next thought is can the play 5's and sub compete with my living room set-up? Very close and may see the end of my conventional Hi-Fi system, abit more listening required. Overall well worth the cash

Buy It! You Won't Regret It!
Holy moly! This is incredible! I can't stop smiling while listening to this! It has rich deep bass and is a wonderful addition to any Sonos speaker out there! I have it connected to the Playbar and it is the best: it amplifies the highs and mids of the Playbar and lets the Sub take the lows! I read reviews that this happens and I didn't believe it until I heard it connected! I am somewhat of an audiophile and notice things quite easily, but I'm sure the average listener can tell a difference when the Sub is connected and when it isn't. The lows are nice and punchy, crisp and clear without being too airy. I appreciate the density of the the bass - it's something you can feel and hear.

This thing is impressive. I previously had a 10 inch sub and this thing blows it away in every way. I have it working with a playbar and a pair of sonos ones for my home theater. The only downside is the sub does not operate independently from the home theater, so I cannot individually select it to function while listening to music on the rest of the sonos ones throughout the house. It can be set up independently, but then it will not operate as a whole with the rest of the home theater setup. Not a big deal, but worth noting. Would be better if all the speakers in the home theater group could be individually selected instead of being forced to select the entire group when listening to music.

You need the Sub to get the real sound!
Once you try Sonos, you will start to buy more. It is the most incredible sound, and the ease of playing any song on this planet in any room at any time by typing a couple of words on your iPhone is MIND BLOWING. Bringing music back into our lives has been like therapy. We forgot what we were missing from years back. Just buy it...you'll never be sorry. We did our bedroom, the living room and a "5" speaker in the kitchen. Two sound bars, two base and 4 "1"'s. Makes the TV sound a million times better and we take the kitchen speaker out on our patio sometimes and my husband keeps telling me to make it lower and stop dancing!

Brilliant piece of kit
Well designed& packaged. Along with play bar gives extra required deep dimension needed to music. Just annoyed it has lost wireless connectivity along with play bar a couple times whist other iPads/phones in house running fine, had to switch my controlling I phone6 & playbar/sub off/on but still had a few lost communication issues so music temporararily paying on uncontrollable or randomly skipping a song. Even tried setting phone in one place (not my pocket) but it still did it, so development into fault diagnostic would be nice. Awesome bit of kit when it works so won't be going back unless it keeps messing about.

What a difference!!
This sub sounds amazing! I added it to a stereo pair of play 1's I've got set up. I also have another play 1 on my lower level. Although the sub is upstairs, it sounds just as good downstairs too! The sound is so much more enjoyable now. The deep, rich bass it adds has got me a lot of compliments from friends as well. I can't wait to hear it with a playbar! Although I did have a little trouble setting it up, the sonos customer support was there to get me back on track very quickly. Note: I ended up hard wiring one of my play 1's to my router which seemed to make a world of difference as far as reliability on the sonos connection.

Great bass quality. Not so great connectivity.
I have this sub paired with a Sonos PlayBar. The quality of the bass is fantastic, no problem there. When everything is working fine, there are no complaints whatsoever. However, the sub sometimes just stops and then it's just the PlayBar playing on it's own. Or, the Sub sometimes falls out of sync with the song and sounds very unpleasant. Would rate the PlayBar 5* however. The Sub I rate 3*. It's a shame, for £700 you'd expect it to have good connection (if it is the connection that's causing this issue). Only had the Sub a few months and has been looked after. Thank god you get a warranty on it as I may need to return it.

Completed the Sonic frequency wave for a whole floor
Our downstairs is a sort of rectangular oval. We have Sonos products strategically placed throughout the level in order to fill all sound gaps as evenly as possible. But as far as covering all frequencies, this Sub is the most important piece in the whole ensemble. Even if I'm in my office on the opposite side of the house, when I turn on my playbar and sub it fills out the whole downstairs floor with a solid low end. You can hear every instrument clearly. This isn't a "compensation" type sub that makes everything bass-y. This is a Sub that articulates the frequencies within it's range. The Playbar/sub combo are the core of my Sonos eco system and (along with the Play:5) show off what Sonos does best.
