Rated 2 out of 5 by from Average with poor quality app I bought the ultra 2 a month ago, the recording quality is good, including at night but everything else is really poor. The mounts that you screw into the wall are cheap and have a tiny plastic rectangle that you have to force the camera mount into, so a tiny piece of plastic is holding the $1200 camera system, I’m waiting for my cameras to crash to the ground. Instead of getting one continuous video, I get several short videos from each camera when they are triggered. There is no quick easy way to live view a camera when it is triggered and by the time you do, or you try to use the microphone, it’s all too late and the person has already broken into your home.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Down side of owning the Ultra 2 Spotlight Camera Although this is an excellent system and works well you have to subscribe to the cloud to use the features of this camera system. If you record locally all the features disappear. this makes the camera just a very expensive spot light as you need the cloud for it to work to its potential. I will be looking for a new system although the product is very good forcing people to use the cloud so that the system works is very poor customer service on Arlos part. Many of my friends have been awaiting my thoughts but I will be encouraging them to look at other brands if they like me want to stay off the cloud and record locally

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra good ultra simple simply ultra Ok so I did purchase the ultra after doing my research. I wanted a system that I can use without a subscription. This Arlo gives me the option to (ultra sweet) âś…. Setting up the system is simple (ultra easy) âś…. The cameras look great and the images are crisp (ultra sexy) âś…. The customisation for the camera is plenty (ultra versatile) âś…. Setting this system up for the peace of mind for my home and family makes me feel like an ultraman! Can't be all good right? Well 1 thing I wish Arlo could improve on the system is for the hub to have a usb connection for external drive. Not a deal breaker for me but nice to have.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from False claims Re battery and HomeKit These are the reason for my 2 stars review: 1- HomeKit compatibility is misleading and inaccurate, I can not view the cams even with VPN access, streaming is not reliable and not getting notifications through HomeKit. 2- Extreme delay in loading cameras in HomeKit and Arlo App. The two talk is a gimmick. 3- Motion recordings are glitched and only record 10-15 seconds which is most of the time not what I want to see. 4- A night recorded video yesterday was of no value. 5- Missing notifications. 6- Taking up to 30 seconds sometimes to get a notification 7- 10% of the battery is drained in two days. How would that last for 6 months? 8- to top it all up the activity zones are paid features..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible waste of money! I will start with the positive and that is the video quality is excellent. Unfortunately, the negatives far outweigh the positive which includes 1) the significant delay of at least 3 seconds means you often observe things too late (see the back of heads), if at all, making the purchase virtually worthless. 2) without the expensive subscription options (i.e. recording to HDD or SD) on top of the expensive cameras and base station you cannot set zones which leads to 3) the recording is almost continuous when it is windy which leads to 4) due to these issues the camera battery lasts less than 1 week. Seriously, save your money and consider a PoE camera system with free AI detection of people/cars etc as it will be a cheaper TCO and more effective.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great when works however paying to record is poor Had Arlo’s for many years and didn’t really mind upgrading to Ultra2 however the 7 days cloud recording I like on my older system isn’t available for these ultras so only option is to pay subscription this is a huge negative IMO Cameras work fine had warranty issue already on one due to significant battery drain 2 days due to motion constantly being detected and recording for minutes at a time - when got the new replacement I lost the trial and camera records nothing until I pay to subscribe Not the best method to keep customers

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing product Disappointing product and app. Mou ting screws are limited in placement and difficult to secure in a tightend screw position. App to see activity is difficult to navigate and recording inconsistent. I have tried to review 2 vandalism actions and both times in full view of camera there was no recording. I use Uniden and Eufy in other properties and sadly I do not rate this system. WiFi connectivity is also poor and inconsistent. Not my WiFi before you ask. Overall would not purchase this product or recommend it..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality with advanced features This is the best wireless home security camera system from the various reviews that I have read, which is why I chose it. It was quick and easy to install. There are quite a few parameters you can select and modify, and that can take a little to get your head around. The batteries last a long time on each charge, but can be a little fiddly to get a grip on if you need to remove them from the camera. The software is generally user friendly and simple, however when I wanted to change the cameras around between the two base stations I have, the only way to do that was to delete each camera and re-associate each one with its new base station, resetting all the parameters. A bit annoying that you can’t simply change which base station any particular camera is associated with. Otherwise, very happy.

I have two cameras from an older Arlo solution (maybe 4years) is it possible to attach the newer 4k cameras and the existing cameras to the same hub? I currently do not have a subscription and ideally would continue with that approach.

Great question Mike. The Arlo base stations and hubs are compatible with all Arlo wire-free devices, except Arlo Go. They will work with Arlo Ultra, Ultra 2, Essential wire-free, Pro 3, Pro 3 Floodlight Camera, Pro 2, Pro, Wire-Free, Video Doorbell, and Audio Doorbell. You can have up to 5 cameras paired to your Arlo Free account. Trust this helps!

Does the ArloUltra2 Spotlight 4K UHD Wire Free Security System record for playback, if so for how long and how is playback achieved?

Hi Alan, thanks for your question.Your Arlo Ultra camera records continuously, but discards the video after three seconds if no motion is detected. This means that your motion-triggered video recordings start before any motion happens; you don’t miss a thing.Your Arlo recordings are sent to your Arlo account in the cloud and stored in your library which you can keep and go back to months later. You also have the authority to press record from the Arlo app you would set up on your phone, otherwise it will record once motion is detected if you are not on the app itself. It records upto 3 hours of motion imagery a day. Hope this brings some clarity to your question.

Yes, the recording quality of these cameras allows recording in 4K without the Arlo subscription, recordings can be saved to SD card or used in the Arlo App as 4K. The subscription is only required should you wish to back up recordings to the cloud or use any of the other subscription features. Hope this helps!
