Simple features that make a big difference
- Smart sensor cooking: No more guessing how long to heat something. These sensors feel the steam coming off your food and automatically adjust the time so your meal doesn’t dry out or overcook.
- Inverter heating: New smart technology in Flatbed Inverter microwaves uses a steady, continuous stream of heat. This means no more frozen centres or burnt edges when you defrost dinner (more even heating).
- Sizes: Compact options (20L) are great if you live in a small apartment or dorm. A 25–30L microwave suits most families and fits a standard dinner plate, while 32L+ models are ideal for large meals or frequent entertaining.
- Combination microwave ovens: Versatile cooking possible (heating, baking, grilling, roasting, and even air frying)
- Brand: Look for reliable brands. Panasonic is known for its inverter tech, Samsung and LG for smart features, Bosch and Fisher & Paykel (premium built-ins), Sharp (value options), NEFF (stylish built-in integration), and Miele (high-end, precision engineering), to name a few.
In addition to microwaves, we have a wide range of kitchen appliances to complete your space. Can I put a standalone benchtop microwave inside a cabinet?
No, you should not do this unless the cabinet is completely open at the front and has several inches of clearance on all sides. For a cabinet-fit look, use an integrated built-in microwave.
What is a convection microwave?
A convection microwave has a built-in fan and heating element inside. This allows it to act like a mini-oven, meaning you can actually bake cookies, roast a chicken, or crisp up food.
What size and power level do I need?
For most families, 900 to 1,200 watts of power is perfect. It cooks fast and heats evenly. If you need to reheat coffee or make popcorn in a small space, a smaller compact microwave around 700 to 800 watts will work great.
Which is better flatbed or turntable microwave?
Both are good for different scenarios.
- Choose a turntable if you are on a budget and will mostly use the appliance to heat standard items (coffee, soup, and a plate of food).
- Choose a flatbed if you use larger dishware, absolutely hate cleaning, and want maximum space inside.
